HELENA is a short film scripted and directed by Liese Kuhn, reimagining one of Helena’s iconic monologues from A Midsummer Night’s Dream in a contemporary setting. Through a minimalist yet emotionally charged lens, the film explores themes of longing, insecurity, and self-worth, bridging the timelessness of Shakespeare with the raw intimacy of modern-day womanhood.
HELENA was selected for the Rendez-Vous Short Film Corner at the 2023 Cannes Film Festival,. As part of the Cannes experience, Liese was invited to the exclusive Short Film Networking Breakfast, where she had the opportunity to meet and connect with lead programmers from festivals including Berlinale and Locarno.
