Troukoors (English title: Wedding Fever) is a South African romantic comedy series and the first Showmax Original in its genre. The show follows Jessica (Ilse-Lee van Niekerk), a wedding planner immersed in the world of love and matrimony, yet struggling to find her own romantic fulfillment. Alongside her sister Luca (Blyde Smit), a software developer fluent in Klingon, and her best friend Abi (Bianca Flanders), a bisexual baker with a zest for life, Jessica navigates the complexities of relationships, career, and self-discovery.
The series was created by SAFTA winner Louis Pretorius and SAFTA nominee Albert Snyman, known for acclaimed shows like Die Boekklub and Fynskrif, with Nina Swart directing. Troukoors has been praised for its fresh, funny, and heartfelt portrayal of modern love and friendship, set against the vibrant backdrop of the Cape wedding industry.
I was part of the writers' room for both seasons of Troukoors, contributing to the development of storylines and character arcs, and scripting several episodes.
